On the Use of Integrating Sphere Reflectometers for Measuring the Solar Absorptance of Selective Surfaces
نویسندگان
چکیده
Solar absorptances are often derived from the reflectance values measured with devices which make use of integrating spheres. Instruments of this type can be operated in two different ways, according to whether spectral or integrated reflectances are measured. Though solar absorptances derived from spectral data are inherently more accurate, some commercially available reflectometers are found which are conceived for measuring integrated rather than spectral reflectances. Since these instruments are often provided with radiation sources which do not match the solar spectrum and/or detectors showing a spectrally selective response, they could in principle be affected by errors when dealing with selective surfaces. With the aim of giving an error estimate, the theory of the measurement was analyzed with, reference to some selective samples well characterized for their reflectance properties. The results werethengivenan experimental validation by using an integrating sphere equipped with different sources and detectors.

Solvothermal Synthesis of Cobalt and Copper Sulfides Nanoparticles with High Light Absorptance for New Solar Selective Coatings
New selective coating materials are developed and used in advanced solar collector and absorber designs with improved efficiency. Cobalt and Copper sulfides nanoparticles are high interest for absorbers of solar thermal collectors due to their optical properties and high absorptance in the solar wavelength range (> 96%). In the present work, Cobalt and Copper sulfides nanoparticles were synthes...
متن کاملEstimation of leaf area with an integrating sphere.
Relative absorptance of intact branches measured with an integrating sphere was compared to leaf area estimated by conventional methods (volume displacement and scanning area meter) for three conifer species: Picea mariana (Mill.) BSP, Pinus banksiana (Lamb.) and Pseudotsuga menziesii (Mirb.) Franco. A consistent relationship between relative absorptance and surface area emerged for the three s...
متن کاملBest Orientation Determination of Buildings in Zanjan City Based on Solar Radiation
In recent years, high consumption of energy has become one of the major problems of world, especially in big cities. One of the solutions given for this situation is using solar energy as much as possible. If buildings are constructed in accordance with solar radiation and regional climate, they can absorb the lowest energy in hot and the most energy in cold periods; there will then be noticeab...
متن کاملMeasurement of light absorption by aquatic particles: improvement of the quantitative filter technique by use of an integrating sphere approach.
Determination of particulate absorption in natural waters is often made by measuring the transmittance of samples on glass-fiber filters with the so-called quantitative filter technique (QFT). The accuracy of this technique is limited due to variations in the optical properties of the sample/filter composite, and due to uncertainties in the path-length amplification induced by multiple scatteri...
